The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MoAFS) in corroboration with the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) on the 22nd June 2011 officially launched the second phase of Improving Food Security and nutrition policies and programs outreach project at Chikhu Hotel in Kasungu District. In this project, Farmers will be involved in small scale irrigation, soil and water conservation, nutrition and health education and water and sanitation. The project is funded by Flanders International Cooperation Agency (FICA) and will be implemented for the next 3 years in Kasungu and Mzimba Districts.

In attendance at the launch were the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Prof. Peter Mwanza, FAO Rep Mr Pinit Korsieporn, the Director of Agriculture Extension Dr Malindi, Programme Managers for Kasungu and Mzuzu ADD Mr Bodzalekani and Mr Khonje respectively, and the DC for Kasungu Mr. Lende.
